Iwase, Ibaraki

Iwase (岩瀬町; -machi) is a town located in Nishiibaraki District, Ibaraki, Japan.

As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 22,378 and a density of 256.75 persons per km². The total area is 87.16 km².

On October 1, 2005 Iwase was merged with the town of Makabe, the village of Yamato, both from Makabe District, to form the new city of Sakuragawa.

Famous for its large open cut mine and greasy restaurants located close to the station.
